Samajwadi Hathkargha Bunkar Pension Yojana
The state govt. of Uttar Pradesh has launched a unique pension scheme in the state named the Samajwadi Hathkargha Bunkar scheme, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state, Shri Akhilesh Yadav. This pension scheme is named after the ruling party of Uttar Pradesh i.e. Samajwadi Party. The pension scheme will be beneficial to the thousands of weavers across the state. The decision to implement the scheme was passed in the cabinet sessions currently going on in Uttar Pradesh. The date of introduction of the scheme is 18th July, 2016. The scheme is going to be implemented very soon.
Pension details and eligibility criteria of the scheme
All the individuals who are working in the state of Uttar Pradesh and have opted the profession of weaving are entitled to join this pension scheme. After registration to this pension scheme, the weavers will be entitled to get fixed monthly pension after the mentioned age of retirement in the scheme. The weavers on attaining the age of 60 years will be eligible to receive the monthly pension amount which will be directly transferred to their registered bank accounts. Monthly pension of Rs. 500 will be given as per the policy.
Target group of the Samajwadi Hathkargha Bunkar Pension Yojana
The main target group for this pension scheme are the thousands of weavers across the state of Uttar Pradesh. An estimated total of 80 thousand beneficiaries will get this pension benefit in the state. Uttar Pradesh is the land of many handloom weavers and artists who take weaving as their profession. This profession generally is carried out in all major parts of the state like Varanasi, Agra, Lucknow, etc. Varanasi is famous for its Benarasi Sarees which are exported throughout the world. There are numerous chikon embroidery weavers in the cities of Lucknow and Agra. These weavers work in numerous small and micro scale factories across the state. The Govt. will start the pension project for all the weavers working in unorganized sectors who do not receive proper pension facilities.
Budget allocation and implementation strategy for the pension scheme
The Samajwadi Party has already made budget allocations for this pension scheme which will be implemented very soon. The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held within the next year and the Govt. is keen to implement the scheme throughout the districts. A total fund of Rs. 30 crore has already been sanctioned for this purpose, for initial implementation in the first year. Over the next few years, more corpuses are expected to be allotted so that all the beneficiaries can be brought under this scheme.
Registration to the pension scheme
Although the state govt. has only decided to implement the pension scheme in the state as soon as possible, it has not declared the procedure of registration to join the scheme. It is expected that the pension policy will be implemented through the block offices and Zilla Parisads in all the districts. Also there might be an online mode of registration where the weavers can join the pension plan.
